JOB DESCRIPTION

Our studio is hiring an Architectural Technologist to join our Nottingham practice.

We a looking for architectural technologists with UK experience in delivering small to medium development project. You will be qualified to a minimum level of HNC/HND, with or without a degree in architectural technology. An MCIAT qualification is desirable, but not essential. You will be involved in the production of drawings and technical information from concept phases through to completion including planning and building regulations submissions and construction drawing packages. Coordination of engineers, designers, architects and survey information. You will be working as part of a team, with a client and contractors focused position within the practice, you will be required to demonstrate excellent technical background with full knowledge of statutory regulations.

This will be a one year full time contract with the potential to become permanent. 

Starting date: Beginning of September onwards.

As a member of our design team you will be involved throughout the whole design process. We are a small team, we are driven, friendly, focused, we forge personal relationships to understand our clients’ and contractors needs, ensuring that our designs schemes exceed our clients expectations. Every project is unique, as is our approach, but we are strict with the building regulations, all projects are required to adhere to the latest building regulations, thereofre as part of our team you will will gain first hand experience communicating construction packages with our internal team to ensure it exceeds our clients expectations. You will need a working knowledge of statutory regulations and posses excellent technical background, within our team you guided throughout the each process with our project team.

 

Your responsibilities:

Your experience, skills and attributes:

  • HNC or HND in construction, architectural technology or building studies, or a foundation degree in architectural technology, ideally also with the MCIAT professional qualification.

  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is also required

  • Robust technical skills, to be able to take projects through all RIBA project stages.

  • Work closely with other consultants to coordinate pre-construction information.

  • Able to take guidance as well as working independently.

  • A proven enthusiasm for high-quality design and construction.

  • Experience of traditional construction is essential

  • Fluent user of ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and SketchUp.

  • Proven knowledge of UK building industry and building regulations

  • Great time management and organisational skills.

  • Proactive and enthusiastic.

  • Competence and clarity in communicating construction ideas.

  • Design communication that considers project’s unique identity and value, as well as responding to client concerns and needs.

  • Produce schedules, drawings, costing and specifications for tender and construction purposes.

  • Work alongside suppliers, fabricators and manufacturers to procure specialist items.

  • Able to communicate design ideas verbally and visually.

  • Familiar with the range of computer rendering and animation software including their relative merits and processing techniques.

  • Engaged, inquisitive and interested in innovative design projects.

  • Empathy for great design, and attention to detail.

  • An interest in nurturing and developing others.

  • Resilient and determined.

Knowledge Management

  • Attendance in continuing professional development and familiarise with emerging best practice to allow them to deliver technical excellence.

  • Participate in learning activities, keep abreast of current technological developments and regularly attend internal studio talks and workshops.

  • Share knowledge, experience and lessons learned across the team and the wider studio.

Studio Contribution

  • Contribute proactively to wider studio projects and initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain a positive and professional relationships, internally and externally.
