From Disconnected to Designed for Family Life in Bingham

🌀 A Home with Space, but Not Flow

When our clients purchased their large family home in Bingham, they saw potential. The house was spacious and full of promise, yet the reality of day-to-day life told a different story. The ground floor felt fragmented, with rooms that didn’t connect or flow naturally. Upstairs, there weren’t enough bedrooms for the children, and the annex on the top floor was awkward and underused. Even simple routines, like washing the family dog, became daily frustrations.

It was a house with plenty of space but little cohesion, and the family needed a home designed for the way they really lived.

🎯 Bespoke Design, Rooted in Real Life

At Architecture North, we don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” design. Every home and every family is different. By listening closely to our clients, we were able to shape a scheme that not only modernised their property, but transformed it into a bespoke family home, designed around how they truly wanted to live.

The ground floor became the heart of the home, reimagined into a light-filled open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space. Cooking, relaxing, homework, entertaining, everything now happens seamlessly in one connected area. A timber rear extension strengthens the connection to the garden, so the outdoors is now an effortless part of daily life.

🔑 Details That Change Everything

Award-winning design is as much about the small touches as the big ideas. Together with our clients, we identified the details that would make daily life easier, more joyful, and more practical:

✨ A new side access with a built-in dog shower, tailored to their four-legged family member.
✨ A snug around the courtyard for the children to play, read, and relax.
✨ Upstairs, each child now has their own bedroom, giving them independence while keeping the family connected.
✨ A new parents’ suite brings comfort and privacy.
✨ The once-problematic annex has been transformed into a stylish, functional bedroom suite that adds long-term value.

Every choice was guided by the family’s lifestyle and our expertise in creating homes that feel both highly functional and deeply personal.

🖥️ Designed for Modern Family Living and Working

With working from home now a permanent part of many lives, the client also needed a dedicated, private workspace. We designed a bespoke home office that delivers focus and calm without disrupting family spaces. To complete the transformation, the home’s front elevation was modernised, giving the property a refreshed, contemporary identity that reflects the life lived inside.

🌟 The Result: A Home That Works as Hard as the Family Who Lives in It

What was once a disconnected, frustrating house is now a warm, cohesive family home. Every space has purpose, every detail has meaning. From lively gatherings in the open-plan kitchen to quiet moments in the snug, or focus time in the home office, the design supports every aspect of modern family life.

This is what we do at Architecture North: we transform potential into places people love to live.
