RIBA Work Stages 6 and 7: Handover, Close Out and In Use
At Architecture North, we see Stages 6 and 7 as some of the most rewarding moments in the journey. After months of planning, design, and construction, this is the stage where you finally step into your completed home or building and begin enjoying the spaces we created together.
π Stage 6: Handover and Close Out
Stage 6 is all about reaching the finish line. At this point, your project is complete and ready for use. The builder has finalised construction, building control has signed off compliance, and keys are officially handed over.
We like to make this milestone special. That is why we always begin with a congratulations on your project. It is an incredible achievement to bring a vision from drawings to reality, and we want to celebrate that with you.
To make sure you feel fully at home, we arrange an initial handover appointment with you. During this meeting, we walk through the building together, answering questions and making sure you are confident in how everything works. From heating systems to storage, we want you to feel settled and supported from day one.
π‘ Stage 7: In Use
Once you are living in your new home or using your new space, Stage 7 begins. This stage is all about aftercare and support.
We arrange a follow-up visit between 6 months to 1 year after completion, depending on your preferred timeframe. This gives us the chance to see how you are settling in and to hear your feedback. It is also the perfect opportunity to discuss how the space is performing in real life and to address any small adjustments or queries that naturally arise once you start living in a new environment.
For us, Stage 7 is about more than checking boxes. It is about building long-term relationships with our clients. We want your home to grow with you and continue to meet your needs, long after construction is complete.
β¨ Why Stages 6 and 7 Matter
While the design and construction stages often steal the spotlight, Stages 6 and 7 are where your project truly comes alive. These stages mark the start of a new chapter for you, whether that is moving into a bespoke family home, settling into a transformed space, or seeing a commercial project thrive.
By staying connected through handover and aftercare, we give you peace of mind that we are here not just as designers but as partners in your journey. Your success is our success, and nothing makes us prouder than seeing your vision fully realised and in use.
πΏ Looking Ahead
As we close out this RIBA Work Stages series, we want to thank all our clients and readers for following along. Each stage plays a vital role in shaping a successful project, and Stages 6 and 7 are the joyful conclusion that turn architecture into lived experience.
