61. Smoking and Vaping Policy
61.1 Architecture North is committed to providing a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all employees, clients, and visitors. 
61.2 This policy outlines our rules regarding smoking and vaping to ensure compliance with health regulations and promote workplace wellbeing.
61.3 This policy applies to all employees, contractors, clients, and visitors on any company premises or during work-related activities, including studio spaces, vehicles, construction sites, and off-site meetings.
61.4 Smoking (including tobacco, herbal cigarettes, and any form of lit substance) and vaping (e-cigarettes or similar devices) are strictly prohibited:
61.4.1 Inside any enclosed company premises (including offices, meeting rooms, toilets, and hallways)
61.4.2 Within a 5-metre radius of any entrance, window, or air intake
61.4.3 In company vehicles or shared transport while on duty
61.5 Designated outdoor smoking areas (if applicable) must be used. Employees must ensure:
61.5.1 Smoking/vaping is discreet and respectful to others
61.5.2 All litter (e.g., cigarette ends, vape cartridges) is properly disposed of
61.5.3 Breaks are kept within reasonable limits and do not disrupt workflow
61.6 While vaping is often considered a less harmful alternative to smoking, it is treated the same under this policy to maintain a consistent and professional environment.
61.6.1 Vaping is only permitted in the same designated areas as smoking.
61.7 Employees should not take excessive breaks to smoke or vape. 
61.7.1 Smoke breaks are not an entitlement and should be taken in line with standard rest periods unless otherwise agreed with a manager.
61.8 All visitors, clients, and contractors must comply with this policy. 
61.8.1 Employees are responsible for ensuring visitors are aware of and adhere to the company’s smoking and vaping rules.
61.9 Any violation of this policy may result in informal counselling or formal disciplinary action under the company’s conduct procedures. Repeated breaches will be taken seriously.
61.10 This policy will be reviewed annually or as necessary to remain compliant with relevant health and safety legislation and workplace standards.
