PROJECT BIO
This project involved the transformation of a disused and underutilised garage plot into a high-quality, contemporary one-bedroom home. We aimed to create a compact yet liveable space that made the most of the site’s limitations while delivering architectural interest and functional comfort.
With the client based in London and the site located elsewhere, the entire design and development process was conducted remotely. We undertook all on-site assessments and surveys independently, while maintaining consistent communication with the client through scheduled virtual meetings. This collaborative digital workflow allowed us to refine the brief, discuss evolving design ideas, and respond swiftly to any challenges during the project lifecycle.
The site presented a number of complex constraints, including tight boundary conditions, restrictive height limits, and sensitivity from neighbouring properties. These factors required a nuanced approach to spatial planning and design. Our team undertook a thorough analysis of the site context and planning regulations, developing a scheme that responded intelligently to its surroundings while respecting the privacy and rights of adjoining properties.
Despite the site’s tight boundaries, height restrictions, and neighbouring sensitivities, we delivered a well resolved design that maximises space, light, and liveability. Vaulted ceilings and generous openings create a bright, open interior, while careful planning ensured privacy and efficiency. The result is a modern, energy-efficient home that makes excellent use of a formerly overlooked site.
“Create the lifestyle you want to live, with Architecture North Today!”
Description Coming Soon… This project involved the delivery of four substantial detached homes, each incorporating complex subterranean accommodation. Architecture North Ltd was appointed at a challenging stage, following issues with a previous architect and stalled progress on site. With excavations already underway, the project required immediate, technically informed support to avoid further delays.
