This residential project involved the transformation of an underutilised loft space into a thoughtfully designed new storey, enhancing both the functionality and overall value of the property. Architecture North Ltd were appointed to lead the design and delivery of the scheme, which introduced a full-width rear dormer and strategically placed rooflights to maximise space, light, and comfort.

The new floor provides a self-contained master suite, carefully arranged to support modern living needs. The layout includes a spacious bedroom, a dedicated home office, a walk-in wardrobe, and a contemporary en-suite bathroom. This addition offers a quiet, private area within the home, ideal for both relaxation and remote working.

A key aspect of the design was to ensure an abundance of natural light. Rooflights positioned along the front roof slope and large rear-facing glazing within the dormer flood the interior with daylight, creating a bright and airy environment that feels both open and inviting.

Externally, the dormer is designed to sit comfortably within the existing roof form, respecting the character of the property while delivering much-needed head height and usable floor area. Internally, careful attention was paid to circulation and ceiling heights to ensure a seamless integration with the floors below.
