RIBA Work Stage 2: Concept Design β¨
After setting the foundation in Stage 0 and building a clear brief in Stage 1, we now step into one of the most creative and rewarding parts of the process: Stage 2: Concept Design. This is where your project starts to take shape on paper and on screen, and where ideas truly come alive.
Turning Vision Into Design π‘
At this stage, our team begins by creating detailed computer drawings of your existing property, including floor plans, elevations, and sections. These become the canvas for your new design.
If you already have a strong idea of how you want your space to look, we bring that vision into professional drawings. If you are open to possibilities, we often present multiple sketch concepts tailored to your brief. This allows us to test different ideas and reveal design opportunities that may not have been obvious at first glance.
The Creative Journey βοΈ
Stage 2 is about collaboration and exploration. To make sure your project develops in the right direction, we include:
Three rounds of design revisions
Three in-studio meetings where we explore your ideas in depth
Time for reflection and feedback after each presentation
After our first concept meeting, we encourage you to take around two weeks to review the sketches, talk them over with friends or family, and imagine how the design will fit into your lifestyle. Once we receive your revision requests, we refine the design and invite you back for the next meeting.
By the third meeting, the changes are usually small details, as the design is now being polished to perfection.
From Ideas to Sign-Off β
Once you are fully confident with your design, we move to the sign-off stage. At your very first meeting, we provide a paper approval form for you to confirm your chosen design when ready. After sign-off, the drawings are locked in and we can progress to the next phase of the project.
If you would like to continue developing ideas beyond the three revisions, that is possible too. Extra revisions can be arranged as part of our additional services, although most projects are fully resolved within the included process.
Why Stage 2 Is So Important π
Stage 2 is where dreams start turning into real architectural concepts. It is the point when you can see how your home or building will look, how the spaces will flow, and how the design will enhance everyday life. At Architecture North, we see this as one of the most exciting milestones because it is where our creativity meets your aspirations, and together we begin shaping something unique and personal.
Letβs Shape Your Future Together π
At Architecture North, we believe Stage 2 should feel inspiring, collaborative, and enjoyable. It is your chance to see your project take its first real form, and we are here to guide you every step of the way.
